Description This course is an updated version of the Birmingham University Language Laboratory Course for Social Scientists, University of Birmingham 1972. The texts have been updated to take account of the changes occurring in the former Soviet Union and its language. It is intended for students who wish to acquire reading competency in Russian and to access Russian texts of both the Soviet and post-Soviet periods. The course consists of 2 parts, each containing 25 lessons. It includes an introduction to the sounds of Russian, alphabet practice, presentation of grammar, reading texts, exercises and a glossary.
