| Description |
�Liber Sacriste�, containing copies of charters, legal proceedings etc., rel. the sacrist�s estates, set out in the order of the original documents as pressmarked (i.e. commencing with 1�1� Sacriste A�1�). Marginal notes both summarise each document and, until near the end of the volume, indicate its pressmark. There are a few documents of as early as the 12th cent. (e.g. acta of Bishop Hugh du Puiset), but most are of the 14th cent. The book was written in or soon after 1493, the date of the latest document that is transcribed. Book of 131 folios, in contemporary blind-stamped binding. |
