||Letter of Ralph Herbottil, abbot, to members of the Cistercian order, reporting the sentencing in chapter at Kirkstead, in the presence of the abbots of Revesby and Swineshead, on 24 March 1471 [i.e., 1471/2], of Edmund Hexham, monk of Kirkstead, for crimes of prison-breaking (from Woburn), apostasy, theft and sodomy, over a period of years. Recited in letters patent of the abbots of Stratford, St Mary Graces and Woburn, diffiniators of the General Chapter and deputed Reformatores, confirming and ratifying the sentence upon Hexham, 31 May 1472. Copy; contemporary. Slightly imperfect, having been trimmed so that it would serve as flyleaves for a book in the library of the abbey of Cteaux (no. 386 in the library catalogue of 1450). As Talbot surmised, this document must have been transcribed for the purposes of being sent to the General Chapter of Cteaux or else to the abbot of Cteaux.
